5Great Primer for beginning Pipefitter Trainees  Oct 03, 2008 By Steve
I stumbled across this book about 10 years ago in a trade publication. At that time craft training was imperiled by the decline of the trade unions in our area and I was searching for a tool to help bolster training for young and inexperienced employees. I strongly disagree with the previous review that states this book is very boring. Over the last ten years I have bought about 30 copies of the book. Basic math principles as they apply to the pipefitting trade are laid out very well and easy to understand. Also, the author does a really good job of laying out step by step, the proper way to use a scientific calculator when working trade math formulas.

5Perfect purchase!  Oct 16, 2009 By Karen Goulet
I bought it for my boyfriend going to school for Plumbing Apprentice. Not only did he love it, his buddies are now asking where I got it!

Great purchase.

5Great book!!  Mar 21, 2012 By UA Apprentice
This book goes into greater detail than the UA textbook which is also pretty darn good... ie: the reasoning behind the fitting takeouts instead of just putting up the formulas and it does the same with several other piping concepts. It's a great compliment to the UA book. Not to mention it's pipefitter specific without the plumbing info. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone getting into a fitting career

3Good for brushing up  May 03, 2010 By Mandi
I bought this book for my boyfriend, who was studying to take the steamfitter's entrance test. He said the math was a good refresher. I'd say the book was moderately useful. Probably most helpful for someone that hasn't looked at a math problem since high school and would like to pass the test to get into the union as an apprentice.

2Basic  Jul 13, 2007 By Brett A. Cutler
Very boring book. Only very basic pipefitting formulas and math. Good for first timers.
