5An indispensable and confidently recommended addition  May 04, 2008 By Midwest Book Review
Every building from the simplest shack to the grandest home to the most complex of office buildings must be built according to applicable municipal codes and pass municipal code inspectors. "McGraw-Hill's Construction Codes & Inspection Handbook" by construction expert and ICC-certified inspector Gil Taylor is a complete, single-volume textbook that will enable every building project to be in full compliance with all relevant building codes. Enhanced with more than 500 charts, tables, calculations, and checklists, "McGraw-Hill's Construction Codes & Inspection Handbook" offers clear, concise explanations that demystify and explain often complex building codes. Also provided are procedures and job-critical tools for every phase and aspect of construction to insure design quality and code compliant sitework, concrete, masonry, carpentry, structural steel, doors and windows, finishes, thermal and moisture protection, piping systems, mechanics, electrical, and OSHA requirements. "McGraw-Hill's Construction Codes & Inspection Handbook" covers the International Building Code; National Electrical Code; International Plumbing Code; International Zoning Code; and so much more. Of special note is the practical commentary and attention given to issues of safety, contractor payment, claims, inspectors' daily reports, labor enforcement; storage of materials, and project turnover. "McGraw-Hill's Construction Codes & Inspection Handbook" is an indispensable and confidently recommended addition to professional, technical college, and academic library Architectural Studies and Construction reference collections.

5Wish I'd gottne years ago.  Aug 26, 2011 By JJ
I'm a General Contractor, and recently moved to another state. Getting ahead of the codes they follow here was an issue in the beginning, but not anymore. This text provides me a ready, easy-to-understand source for all the code information I need on any given day. The price is great, and it arrived quicker than I'd expected with the free shipping option. This book is a must buy if you are a builder, or even a homeowner acting as your own contractor. Don't get caught without the proper permits and the knowledge of what you need to do, or have done.
